Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Dornio mobile application ("App") and website, operated by Dornio ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using Dornio, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Dornio is an offline voice dictation application for Android devices. It allows you to dictate text into any application using on-device AI speech recognition. Certain AI text-correction features require downloading local language models.
2. Free trial
We may, at our discretion, offer new users a free trial period with full access to all features. Where a trial is offered through Google Play, a payment method must be on file to start it, and no charge is made until the trial period ends; you may cancel before then to avoid being charged. The availability and length of any trial are shown in the app and on the Google Play Store listing. After a trial period expires, a subscription is required to continue using the App.
3. Subscriptions and payment
Dornio is available via auto-renewing subscriptions managed through Google Play. Current pricing and plan options are displayed in the App and on the Google Play Store listing at the time of purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. Your Google Play account will be charged at the price confirmed at the time of purchase. You may cancel at any time through the Google Play Store; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer partial refunds for unused subscription time, except as required by law or Google Play's own refund policies.
4. Lifetime purchase
Dornio offers an optional one-time purchase ("Lifetime Purchase") as an alternative to a recurring subscription. The Lifetime Purchase grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Dornio application for Android, including its on-device dictation and AI writing features as they exist at the time of purchase, for as long as we continue to commercially support this application (the "Commercial Life of the Product"), without further recurring charges for that access.
The Lifetime Purchase applies solely to the Dornio application for Android as offered at the time of purchase. It does not include, and should not be understood to include:
- access to any separate application we may release for other operating systems or platforms, including but not limited to iOS, Windows, or macOS;
- any team, business, or multi-seat product we may offer under a different name or plan;
- cloud-based services, synchronization, or storage, whether offered now or in the future;
- new products, standalone features, or capabilities we determine to be outside the scope of the Dornio Android application, particularly where such features rely on paid third-party services or infrastructure.
If we retire, discontinue, or materially change the Dornio application, your Lifetime Purchase entitles you to continued access only for as long as the application remains available and operable, consistent with Section 10 (Changes to the service). We are not obligated to indefinitely maintain, update, or ensure compatibility of the App with future versions of Android or device hardware. The price and availability of the Lifetime Purchase may change at any time for future purchasers; any such change does not retroactively apply to or diminish the licence already granted to you.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Attempt to circumvent the subscription or trial entitlement system
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell access to the App
- Record or transcribe another person's speech using the App without that person's consent
6. Intellectual property
The App, including its code, design, and all associated materials, are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your subscription grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on Android devices you own or control.
Speech recognition and language models used in the App may incorporate publicly available, open-source components. Model weights downloaded to your device are subject to their respective licences.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Speech recognition accuracy depends on your device hardware, background noise, accent, and language model quality. We do not guarantee any specific accuracy level.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
8. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it and cancelling your subscription through Google Play. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms, attempt to defraud us or circumvent the trial/subscription system, or if required to do so by law. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as required by law or Google Play's refund policies.
9. Feedback
If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the App, you agree that we may use them freely, without any obligation or compensation to you.
10. Changes to the service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any features at any time. We will give reasonable notice of material changes that affect active subscribers.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
